When Democracy is brought to question, “King Andrew” is definitely a person who fits the profile. He helped with the complete destrusction of the United States National Bank because he believed it was polluted with people that had the intrest to hurt the country. As well, he used things such as the Spoils System to help get friends into “corner offices”. He helped to open the voting process from white males with land ownership, to all white adult males. However, he was “holding the intrest of his country” in best hand when he decided to provoke the moving of the Indians through use of the Trials of Tears.

I agree with Jamie. He did destroy the bank but he thought it was in the best interests of the US. He felt the bank was corrupted and useless. This also damaged our country and caused many problems including the Panic.
I felt Jamie had a strong argument but he didnt give me enough to sway my argument and believe him. I still believe he was a common man because he open up more oppertunities for voting, expanded the democracy system, and he used the spoils system and destroyed the national bank becuase he felt it would help. He wanted to give others a shot in office and not have the same entrenched officeholders in office. And he felt the national bank was hurting the overall economy, so he tried to get rid of it.
