WW2

Music played a vital role during world war two, it served to motivate troops during war, it also helped out at home in america. On ships it signals the changing part of the day, the rise in the morning, lunch, and bedtime. In america, it was a fundemental growth for music in dance, also it was used in war motivation adds , with the trumpet becoming the most well known instrument, however musicans thrived during this time period, with the devolopements of war songs, jazz, blues, and the first hints of rock and roll.

Life during the Great Depresssion

Life in the great depression was very rough for majority of citizens. Jobs were scarce, banks failed, stocks failed, no one had any money. Company millionaires that were rich one day, lived on the street the next. Industry closed, and farming in the mid west became impossible due to a severe drought at the time. Many people lived on the streets or in limited spacing shelters, and the only meals they recieved was from bread lines or soup kitchens, which more than likely contained long lines and many people starved to death.

Causes of the Great Depression

Maldistribution of Wealth:
In the 1920's when the great depression started, there were three classes, lower, middle, and upper class peoples. However, due to an imbalance in supply and demand during the time period, the middle class started to disperse into the others, mainly the lower class. This caused many people to not have jobs at all, and many basic jobs were mass produced to try to fill jobs for the homeless. Jobs such as farming and industry were in high production, however these jobs did not often pay well, furthering the devolopment of lower and upper class indivuals. This is why the great depression was as bad was it was, because of the maldistribution of wealth within the internal american economy.

The Progressive Movement

One of the biggest changes with the progressive movement throughout society came in leaps and bounds with the rights of women in the United States Of America. At the time of the progressive movement, women had very little rights, not even the right to vote as all citizens do now days. The cause for this advancment was women advocasists Jane Addams who helped not only found the WTUL ( National womens trade union league) which helped raise conditions in working enviroments for women, but also the NAWSA (national american womens sufferage assossocation) which is the orginazation that eventually helped to gain women the right to vote, along with the 19th admentment in 1919.
